Curriculum Offer and Pathways

A series of opportunities have been developed to ensure that all BDMA students fulfil their chosen career path. These include access to a full range of progression pathways including A levels, higher education, apprenticeships or business start-up or freelance set up.

Each of our graduates will leave the BDMA with a clear road map for progression and we will support you in planning the best route for you.

Higher Education

Our curriculum provides a pathway into higher education and university for those seeking this experience. We have secured preferred progression pathways for our learners with two of our key partners – Northbrook College and Brighton Film School. You can  continue your  studies with these respected organisations, at  foundation degrees, HNC/HND levels. We work in close collaboration with both organisations, with joint student projects and modules undertaken. This collaboration will  open new horizons, allow for  new contacts and support the  development of  team work skills, which  will  be so valuable when working in the industry.

An internship with one of our industry partners will provide opportunity for some quality industry experience, over a longer period of time. This will allow for a positive relationship to develop, and for you to make your mark and really be part of a team. Access to these experts, and the experience gained will further enrich your CV and provide a spring board for your next career step.

An apprenticeship offers  work based learning, where  you can progress your career, learn specific skills, and  receive  “on the job” training whilst earning a salary. You will be working within one of the digital media organisations, and receive training from us on a day release basis or over a number of days in a block. Working closely with our industry partners means we have a clear understanding of their needs and expectations, and can fully prepare you and support you in achieving success.

Brighton is one of the UK’s fastest growing digital media industry cities, currently placed 4th out of all the UK. We have over 1400 digital media and tech businesses in Brighton, and the industry is valued at £713 million. Employment opportunities are excellent for those who have the right skills set, attitude and determination. Our close collaboration with  industry partners, provides valuable interaction, networking opportunities, and first-hand experience of working in  this exciting, vibrant industry.

Free Lance/Business Start Up

The digital media industry thrives on a network of independent free-lance experts. They provide organisations with specific skills set needed, at particular points in their projects or developments. Understanding how to be successful as a freelancer, is key to success. We will support your business set up, provide you will the information and expertise in operating in this way, and ensure that you have developed your networking skills, and industry contacts as part of your business launch. In addition we have a number of creative pods available to our students, which will provide a small start up space with which to launch your business from. These small pods are free to our students, and are used by entrepreneurs across the city needing a short term base or pop up facility.
